Information for police services boards
One of the roles of the OIPRD is to build the trust and confidence of both the police and community in the public complaints system.
We are asking police services boards to work with us during the complaint process. The OIPRD will need boards to review complaints in cases where a complainant disagrees with the decision of a police chief regarding a policy or service complaint
and also to review conduct complaints about police chiefs and deputy chiefs. This may mean holding hearings and reporting decisions.
The OIPRD may also request police services boards to submit performance audits on the administration of public complaints. With your cooperation, the OIPRD will provide a valuable service to the community and to the police.
