The Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Carla Goncalves as the Deputy Director of the OIPRD, effective September 7, 2020.

Ms. Goncalves received her B.A. from the University of Toronto and her L.L.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to joining the OIPRD, she was counsel in the Policy Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General, where she provided advice on legislative changes and government priorities.
In 2010, Ms. Goncalves joined the OIPRD as legal counsel. She has appeared on behalf of the Director at the Court of Appeal, Divisional Court, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the Ontario Civilian Police Commission. During her tenure at the OIPRD, she has worked on several special projects, including “Policing the Right to Protest: G20 Systemic Review Report”, the development of alternative dispute resolution programs, and the transition initiatives for the implementation of the Community Safety and Policing Act.
