Twitter Policy

The Office of the Independent Police Review Director Twitter account is managed by the OIPRD’s Communications and Outreach unit.

Content

Tweets will be used to communicate matters of interest to the public, including:

  • Information about OIPRD activities, programs and services
  • Information about current issues in police oversight
  • Alerts about new content on our website
  • Links to news releases and statements

If you follow @OIPRD_BDIEP​ the OIPRD will not automatically follow you back. Being followed by @OIPRD_BDIEP does not imply endorsement of any kind.

Availability

Our Twitter account will be updated and monitored during regular office hours, Monday to Friday. Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and the OIPRD accepts no responsibility for lack of service due to Twitter downtime.

@Replies and Direct Messages

The OIPRD welcomes feedback and ideas from all its followers, and endeavors to join the conversation where possible. However, the OIPRD is not able to comment on individual public complaints, or reply individually to all messages received via Twitter. The OIPRD reads all @replies and Direct Messages and ensures that relevant communications are addressed.

Senders of messages that are rude/inappropriate/use profanity will be blocked.

Complaints

The OIPRD cannot accept complaints via Twitter. To submit a complaint online please visit: Make a Complaint.

Contacting OIPRD

Sending a message via Twitter will not be considered as contacting the OIPRD for official purposes and we will not be obliged to monitor or respond to requests for information through the Twitter channel.
