Today, the OIPRD’s website has a new page tracking progress implementing the forty-four recommendations in Broken Trust: Indigenous People and the Thunder Bay Police Service.
At the time Broken Trust was released, the OIPRD committed to publishing a report on the progress implementing its recommendations for two years. In February 2020, the OIPRD released One Year After Broken Trust, which found that only four recommendations were fully implemented, and the majority were in progress or in planning stages.
Since then, the OIPRD has been monitoring progress, implementing recommendations, and because the majority of the recommendations remain in progress, the OIPRD made the decision to continue monitoring and reporting on implementation progress on its website by creating a Thunder Bay Progress Report Tracker instead of publishing a final report.
The Thunder Bay Progress Tracker provides information on each of the forty-four recommendations, why it is considered fully implemented, or ongoing. The tracker allows the OIPRD to update the information and provide it to the public quickly and easily.
